The Holy Spirit

Wind

hur- ruach is the Hebrew word for spirit and wind which is feminine and usually referred to as such, even when the Old Testament is talking about the Lord the Spirit (Holy Spirit). In the New Testament the Lord the Spirit is usually referred to in the masculine. The question is how The Lord the Spirit can be both referred to in the masculine and the feminine?

The Lord is spirit (Jhn 4:24). The Lord the Father, Son, and Spirit is neither male or female, he made both male and female in his image (Ge 1:26). Man and woman were made in the image of the Lord for perfection and for us to comprehend the Lord.

In the Old Testament, the Lord the Spirit did not usually indwell the family of the Lord (the Church). This means the Lord the Spirit is being explained in reference to the Lord himself. In this case, the feminine attributes of the Lord the Spirit are being compared to the masculine attributes of the Lord the Father and the Son.

In the New Testament, after Yeshua arose from the dead, he sent the Lord the Spirit on the Feast of Weeks (Pentecost) to indwell and guide those who become a part of the family of the Lord through the death and resurrection of Yeshua ha'Mashiach (Ac 1:8)(Ac 2:1, 2, 3, 4). (This is the same holiday the Israelites received the law from the Lord on Mount Sinai from the hands of Moses in order to guide the priest of mankind (Ex 19:5, 6)(Ex 19:1-25; Ex 20:1-26).) The Lord the Spirit indwells those who are in the family of the Lord, including the apostles who wrote the New Testament. So, in the New Testament the Lord the Spirit is being explained in reference to the Lord and the family of the Lord (the Church). In this case, the Lord is represented as masculine (Spirit included) and the family of the Lord is represented as feminine. The family of the Lord is seen as a bride (with the Spirit) to be wed to the Lord the Son (the Groom) (Rev 19:7; 21:2; Isa 61:10; 62:5). We also see the husband as Mashiach/Christ in the verses of the book of Ephesians (Eph 5:23).
