YESHUA/JESUS
The Greek word Ἰησοῦ or Ἰησοῦς (G2424) which in English letters would be Iēsou or Iésous is usually translated “Jesus” in English. But, my name or your name in another language would sound different or sometimes even be spelled different. But, in those foreign lands would you want them to call you by your name or how they think it should sound like? Yehoshua (Joshua) (H3091) means the “LORD is Savior.” YESHUA (H3442 from H3468/H3467) means “SAVIOR/MESSIAH/CHRIST” or literally “the saving part of salvation.” YESHUA was Yoseph’s (Joseph’s) adopted son. Yoseph (H3130) means “He added/increases” and comes from the Hebrew word yasaph (H3254) that means “added/increased.” The Hebrew Y can be a prefix to mean “he/they will” [ref], and the Hebrew word saph (H5592a, H5592b) means “door-keeper/threshold/basin/cup.” So, Yoseph can also mean “he will (be the) door keeper.” To believe in the name of YESHUA is to believe YESHUA is “LORD” and “SAVIOR/MESSIAH/CHRIST.” HE is the “DOOR” into Heaven through WHO we are saved from the punishment of our sins by HIS punishment on the Cross. The Hebrew “Y” of YESHUA was translated into a Greek “I” that translated into a Latin “I” that was translated into a German “J” that was translated into a English “J”. Martin Luther was a German who knew the “I” should be translated as a “Y” sound, so he translated the Latin/Greek “I” into a “J”, which in German sounds like a “Y”. But then his “J” that was supposed to sound like a “Y” was translated into English as a “J” to keep the letter the same, but in English it sounds like a “J” not a “Y”. Greek has no “sh” sound so they changed the “SH” of YESHUA to an “S”. A Greek masculine name has an “s” on the end. There is no guttural sound in English or Greek, so the guttural “A” at the end of YESHUA was not used.
